Character Name: Randy Orlando
Canon: Trails Series
Canon History: Here!

Canon Personality: Randy is the not ideal police officer, by any stretch of the imagination. His hobbies including 1) drinking, 2) gambling, 3) going out with women, and any combination of the above. He spends most of his days off at the casino. More than once, he's tried to suggest to the SSS to spend part of their workday relaxing, much to the chagrin of his colleagues.

Despite Randy's carefree demeanor, he hides a dark past. Randy was born into a family of high-ranking jaegers, or mercenaries. Randy was raised to be a mercenary from a young age; he began learning to fight at four, at took his first life at nine. By the time he was thirteen, he was leading his own unit into battle. After losing a dear friend during a mission, Randy began to grow tired of the violence around him, and resolved to leave the jaegers. This is something that he prefers to hide from those around him.

Randy dislikes overt violence, although he fights when he needs to. There are some lines, however, that he will not cross. For example, he refuses to use guns, as they remind him of his time with Red Constellation. He can be rather stubborn at times, and was discharged from the Crossbell Guardian Force after an altercation with a superior officer when he refused to use firearms.

Randy comes off as carefree, but is still supportive of those around him. He is also the definition of "big brother energy." He's not nurturing, necessarily, but he does enjoy spending time with the rest of the team. When any of the team is struggling, he's willing to offer advice, and acts like a brother to Lloyd. He treats the team's honorary daughter, KeA, like the princess that she is. He is also the king of headpats.

Despite his hatred of violence, Randy is willing to fight when he needs to. He doesn't like to see people being hurt, and he strives to make Crossbell City a peaceful place to live. He also fights to protect those around him; meeting the SSS changed his life for the better, and he's willing to do anything he can to make sure that they stay safe.

Overall, Randy is someone with a dark past who is genuinely trying to make more out of his life. He understands the bloodshed that Red Constellation has caused, and he doesn't want to be a part of it. He's someone who's still a little lost, and there are several scenes within the SSS that confirm this.

It would be tempting to think that the reason Randy enjoys drinking and gallivanting as much as he does are because he has a chip on his soldier, but it's a little more complicated than that. Randy is someone who, very earnestly, wants to enjoy life. He's not running from his past so much as he's trying to pave a new future for himself and those around him. Underneath is carefree demeanor is someone who is incredibly reliable, and willing to fight for the things he considers to be important.

AU History: (CW: MENTIONS OF CHILDHOOD ABUSE, BEING A CHILDHOOD SOLDIER, VIOLENCE)

☠ Much like his original life, Randy was born into a mercenary family.
☠ When he was in his mid-teens, a good buddy of his got killed on a mission where Randy was the only survival. The shell-shock was enough that it woke up the memories of his past life.
☠ He used this opportunity to leave his father's mercenary group. Unfortunately, he was noticed by TBO.
☠ TBO picked him up. Randy didn't really jive with what TBO's methods were, but he was smart enough to read the room. He basically did the bare minimum, causing as much trouble as he could.
☠ At some point, he gets assigned to Florida for the above reasons.
☠ Randy didn't like TBO, but he was smart enough to know he couldn't take on TBO alone. Once Teresa was down and it was clear people were fighting back, though, he sent a funny little text.
☠ He went up to Kaisou to join in the rebellion.
En route, he accidentally left Eizen in the corn. This actually isn't that important to his backstory, but it's important to me.
☠ After the rebellion, he went on a journey of personal discovery. The journey mostly involved getting kicked out of national food chains.
☠ He decides to come back to Kaisou. There are many reasons, and none of them are because it is Thanksgiving and there will be free food. Probably.

AU Personality Differences: Once a mess, always a mess.

He's a little more down on himself, though, considering he hasn't had his Zero/Azure redemption arc yet.

[Those close to Randy Orlando would call him an idiot.]

[And they would be correct.]

[Although it had been many years since he left his mercenary family behind, he never really stopped taking risks. Life as a beat cop was inherently less dangerous than the one he'd lived before, but that didn't mean it was completely safe.]

[That, dear reader, is how Randy Orlando found himself with a bullet wound in his leg. And that is why he is currently at a clinic in one of the shadier parts of the city. He could go to a proper hospital for treatment, but that's distance he doesn't want to cover. And he doesn't want to explain it to his coworkers.]

Hey, anyone here? I got a problem.

Game Summary
Personal History
NOTE: The game summary falls off around chapter 4, so here's a short list of things that happen.
>> Heiyue is attacked by the mafia, whose soldiers appear to be on steroids.
>> The SSS investigates a missing persons case. The missing person is known to frequent the casino, but is very bad at gambling. When they find said person, he's cleaned out the casino.
>> The hypertuned soldiers and missing persons case are related; somebody's been distributing a drug around Crossbell that enhances a person's abilities. After finding a sample of the drug, the SSS hands it off to a doctor named Joachim to analyze.
>> As more people go missing around Crossbell, the SSS begins to worry, and visit Joachim to check on his progress. It turns out, he's actual the one behind all of this, and he's taken the hospital hostage with mind-controlled mafia members. The SSS frees the hostages, but Joachim's nowhere to be found. They also find a notebook with details of the D.G. Cult's experiments. It's not clear what Joachim's goal is yet, but it involves KeA.
>> The next day, the SSS ponders what to do about KeA. Nobody wants to say goodbye to the youngest member of their team, but it's clear she's in danger as long as she's in Crossbell. As they're talking, the building is attacked by mind-controlled soldiers, under the influence of Joachim. The party fights their way through the city, before being rescued by Elie's friend Mariabelle and taken to the IBC building.
>> The soldiers attack the IBC building, and the party manages to fend them off. They now have enough intel to know where Joachim is hiding, so the party decides to take the fight to him. They plan to travel in the IBC's limousine, but it's attacked en route to the temple. Noel arrives with a tank and escorts the party to the ruins.
>> The party meets Estelle and Joshua at the ruins, and the six travel down into the depths. They free the missing Crossbell citizens as they go. This dungeon was very long. It did not need to be that long.
>> They find Joachim at the bottom, waiting. He gives a villain monologue. I didn't bother translating all of it, because he was clearly off his rocker.
>> After losing to the party, Joachim takes the red pill, turns into a monster, and loses to the party again. He traps the six of them, planning to explode and take them down with him, but Renne shows up in the nick of time to save everyone with her giant robot. She has a tearful reunion with Estelle and Joshua.
>> At the entrance to the temple, everyone breathes a sigh of relief. With Joachim gone, all of his mind-control bullshit has worn off, and the longest day in Crossbell's history is finally at an end. The party meets KeA, who's been worried sick, at the entrance, and everything is well and good.
>> I'm not crying, you're crying.

Abilities & Skills:
In canon, Randy is a trained fighter. He fights mostly in melee using a specialized Halbred that syncs with his Enigma. He's pretty bulky and strong, and is a pretty heavy hitter with decent defense.

Where he doesn't excel is spellcraft. He can use magic in canon, but they aren't his specialty. Because magic in the Trails universe is tied to Orbaments (in Randy's case, his ENIGMA) he will be unable to access it in Aefenglom.

Randy also has an ability that I like to call "going full Orlando." He can forsake his own health to raise his strength for a limited period of time.

Inventory/Companions:
His Enigma (For sentimental purposes).
His Axe/Halbred
His lighter/Enigma Strap
His CSPD badge.

Choice: Witch
Reason: While he isn't a mage in canon, I think that he fits better with a witch than a monster as he'll have access to protection magic. Turning him into a monster might remind him of being a jaeger too much for his comfort, but having access to shields will allow him to adopt a more defensive fighting style.

Sample: One and two!
